The Positivity Project (P2) provides Tier I character education curriculum support designed to empower students with the social-emotional skills needed to build positive relationships and become their best selves. Through explicit daily instruction around positive psychology 24 character strengths and the Other People Mindset (OPM) elements, students develop the skillset of understanding and recognizing character strengths in themselves and others.
Powered by Google Apps for Education, P2’s fully-digital suite of Pre-K – 12 resources is easy and adaptable for teachers and engaging and impactful for students. In just 15 minutes a day, The Positivity Project helps schools develop a schoolwide common vocabulary, positive culture, and self-aware, empathetic students, lending itself well to opportunities for supporting both interventions and enrichments at Tier 2 and 3.
- Goal Setting- The common language found through teaching the character strengths and OPM elements school-wide can be seamlessly linked to struggling students’ goals and behavior plans.
- Additional Resources- Lessons from the classroom can be expanded during small group social skill sessions and become a focus for conversations between students and counselors, social workers, and mentors. Additional resources offered by P2 include but are not limited to 30+ Project Based Learning units, Spanish and Braille resources, a character education book list, a two-week relationship course for middle and high school students, and more.
- P2 for Families (P2F2)- Designed to help drive conversations around the importance of character and positive relationships at home, this resource can also in school as an extra tool. It is differentiated for grades Pre-K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and features one quote, one video, and three questions.
- Common Vocabulary—Character strengths and OPM elements are part of a proactive, shared language used during school-wide, classroom, and small group conversations about behavior and school expectations.
Just as some students require more intensive support in core content areas, such as math and reading, some will also need extra support to build positive relationships and character strengths.
