How P2 Works for Parents
A simple way to grow character and relationships at home—aligned with what your child is learning at school.
At a Glance
- P2 teaches 24 character strengths and the Other People Mindset at school with short, daily lessons (Aug–May).
- P2 for Families gives you a once-a-week, 5–10 minute at-home touchpoint: 1 quote, 1 short video, and 3 conversation prompts, by grade band.
- Over time, families develop a shared vocabulary (e.g., gratitude, perseverance, fairness) that strengthens relationships and helps kids thrive.
What Your Child Experiences at School
- Daily, zero-prep lessons that fit into the school day without adding workload for teachers.
- A simple, consistent framework that builds a positive, strengths-based culture across classrooms and grades.
- Age-appropriate examples and activities from PreK–12.
- A focus on relationships, using the five elements of the Other People Mindset:
- Identifying and appreciating the good in others
- Knowing that my words and actions affect others
- Supporting others when they struggle
- Cheering others’ successes
- Being present and giving others my attention
Your Role at Home (Easy + Realistic)
Use the weekly P2 for Families page (mobile-friendly) that matches your child’s grade band:
- Read a short quote together. Ask what it means in their words.
- Watch a 1–3 minute video (kid-safe) that shows the strength in action.
- Pick 1 of the 3 prompts to spark a family conversation at dinner, in the car, or at bedtime.
Tip: You don’t need to do everything. One good conversation each week beats a long lecture.

Why This Works
- Shared language: When families use the same words as school (e.g., kindness, self-control), kids understand expectations clearly.
- Tiny, repeatable moments: Short, consistent touchpoints beat long, irregular efforts.
- Strengths-based approach: By focusing on each child’s strengths, families and schools can nurture confidence and empathy together.

How Do I Know If My School Is a P2 Partner?
If your child comes home talking about daily lessons on “character strengths” or the “Other People Mindset,” your school may already be a Partner. To be sure, just ask your child’s teacher or principal.
If yes: The P2 for Families resources will align week-by-week with what your child is learning at school.
If no: You can still follow the P2 for Families calendar at home as a standalone, free resource—and share this page with your school leader if you’d like to see P2 adopted.

- Spot-and-name strengths: “You showed teamwork helping your sister.”
- Tie strengths to real choices: “What would prudence look like before practice?”
- Celebrate process, not perfection.
