About The Positivity Project (P2)

At The Positivity Project, we believe that positive relationships are the cornerstone of a fulfilling life and that character development is key to fostering these relationships. Our mission is simple yet profound: to empower students to build positive relationships and become their best selves.

Founded in 2015, The Positivity Project has grown into a comprehensive, evidence-based positive character education curriculum serving PreK–12 schools across the United States and internationally. At the core of our work are positive psychology’s 24 character strengths—such as perseverance, integrity, and gratitude—and the ‘Other People Mindset,’ which teaches students actionable ways to build positive relationships in their lives.

What We Do

By focusing on what’s right with individuals instead of what’s wrong, we foster positive school cultures where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our curriculum, rooted in the science of positive psychology, provides flexible lessons that fit easily into a school’s daily schedule. By focusing on character development, we equip students with the skills they need for personal growth, improved relationships, and future success.

Why It Works

The Positivity Project’s success lies in its strengths-based approach. By teaching students to focus on character strengths—both in themselves and others—we create a culture of positivity that extends beyond the classroom. Grounded in rigorous research, P2 helps students build self-awareness, empathy, and the ability to connect with others, leading to long-lasting improvements in school culture and individual student outcomes.

Lifelong Impact

We envision a future where all students have the character and relationship-building skills needed to lead their lives with health, happiness, and resilience. In a world where loneliness and social isolation are growing concerns, building strong, positive relationships is more important than ever. We want to see positive character education integrated into every school, giving students the tools to not only succeed academically but also become resilient individuals who positively contribute to their communities throughout their lives.

  • Based on the quality of conversations we have had with our kids over the last year, I know for sure that P2 is making a difference in how my kids think and feel about themselves and other people.
