Excerpt from C&GNews.com:
This year, the district kicked off its now-annual Lake Shore Fall Cleanup in October with members of administration and staff lending a hand. For more than a week, students from all three levels in the district fanned out to spread some fall cheer and give assistance where it was needed.
“We’re a district that’s all about giving back to the community,” said Tasha Candela, virtual learning and media coordinator for Lake Shore Public Schools. “We’re always trying to find different ways to help residents.” She said residents called asking for help, so the district developed a neighborhood route, busing students from house to house. But they didn’t stop there. “A lot of times we also see the need of a next door neighbor and we help those, as well,” she said. “We get a lot of late call-ins (and) we try to accommodate them.”
Lake Shore Public Schools has an initiative throughout the district called The Positivity Project, which promotes 24 character strengths. The cleanup is tied into that initiative.
