Educators, Thank You for Your Leadership

Principals, Counselors, and P2 Leaders,

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for the selfless nature in which you’re supporting your students and your communities during this time of adversity for all of us.

We have seen the #OtherPeopleMatter Mindset in action over and over again this week. Schools preparing, packaging, and delivering thousands of meals a day to people in their communities. Educators creating videos of themselves reading books aloud to their students, working with parents to develop distance learning plans, hosting virtual challenges for students to support their communities, delivering books through bookmobiles, developing journal prompts for mental wellness, posting daily workouts to keep their students active while they practice social distancing…the list goes on.

We have always known that you are servant leaders. But in difficult times like we face today that becomes even more clear. The positive example that you’re setting for your students — through your creativity, optimism, kindness, perseverance, bravery, self-control, love (and so much more) — will be in their memory and shape their character for the rest of their life.

You are on the front lines of the American Dream — shaping the next generation of leaders and citizens. We can’t control the challenges that life brings us, but what we can control is our response. Your response to this difficult situation has been to help…to tap into your character strengths and put the #OtherPeopleMatter Mindset into action. And, our nation is lucky to have you leading from the front.

Please remember we have a distance learning plan in place to help support your school’s families. But, if there is anything else the P2 can help you with at this time, please just let me know.

Thank you and please continue to stay healthy and safe.

-Jeff
