Curriculum Alignment

Academic Curriculum Alignment and The Positivity Project

By Melissa Killingbeck

At The Positivity Project, our mission and vision drive us to continually seek creative ways to support our Partner Schools. That is why we regularly reach out to Partner Schools for feedback. Then, we listen and take action.

Last spring, educators shared that one of their biggest concerns was time. How would they find the time to continue the crucial work of supporting student well-being while also addressing the significant academic struggles brought on by remote learning?

To help with this dilemma, our Resource Development Team aligned our most widely used resource — P2’s daily lessons — to K-12 national curriculum standards.  These standards include Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technical Subjects; Depth of Knowledge levels; and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards.

We can’t add more hours to the day. But we hope that with these easy-to-read academic alignment documents, educators will quickly know which academic standards they are already covering through their P2 lessons – freeing up valuable time during core subjects to focus on additional academic standards.

As a reminder, The Positivity Project is also in alignment with the state standards on mental health, social-emotional learning competencies, and positive character trait education. To see how P2 aligns, click here
